    AMDx2 6000+ or E6600?

I'm in a big hesitation:AMDx2 6000+ or E6600? Now that 6000+ has sell price >180 euro,i thought that it would be the right time to go to AM2 platform...but i had never use amd before,n' i have heard a lot of "bad" things for amd cpu's (like low o/c-abillity,high tempatures,e.t.c.) so what you suggest me?

AMD uisally has top notch CPU's but at the moment intel has the upper hand i would og for the E6600

If those are the only two you're looking at flip a coin or go with brand loyalty. As for AMD having a rep of low O/C and high temperatures, rubbish.

How can you say that though when the x2 6000+ is near the limits of the architecture? Yes you can still get a pretty good OC out of them, but when compared to Intel's offerings, it's a massacre for intels favor.

AMD is great for budget based processors, IF you don't plan to overclock. If you do plan to OC, intel is definitely the way to go, you could even end up getting a Allendale e2x00 or e4x00 and OC them to around 3.0-3.2 ghz for around 70-130 dollars.

If you're oc'ing, go intel, if not, AMD has better budget solutions. ^_^, choice is yours.

Since ya dug this one from the archives I'll revive it once more. The OP was looking for a low cost solution, not an overclocking/tweaking system. They were also mentioning hearing as AMD having a bad reputation for low overclocking and high heat. That's rubbish taking into account the past decade of their offerings compared to Intel's.

Didn't realize how old the thread was when I bumped it

But, I never said AMD's solutions give off massive heat and offer low OC's. They OC well..But they are no where in the league when it comes to performance from intel based overclocks...and that's a fact. Price was, amd has fantastic budget solutions. I also wasn't recommending anything to the op..I was strictly speaking on behalf of your comment regarding amd's heat and oc segment.

    Re: AMDx2 6000+ or E6600?

I just built a system with an AMD 5000+black edition(unlocked multiplier)on an msi k9ngm4-f v-2 motherboard overclocked from 2.6 to 3.0(6000+speed).Scored 10,545 on 3dmark06 with an EVGA 8800gt 650core 1900memory.Processor was only $87 at Newegg compared to $153 for the 6000+ and $230 for the e6600 conroe. If your looking for a budget processor look no further. If you want overclockability you should probably go with one of the core duo or quads.

I run the 6000+ 90nm in my system. It does everything I need it to do from running 4 virtual machines at once to playing games. All in all for the price i paid for it it does the job very very well.

Back in the day before the world of dual core, AMD were giving Intel pretty good competition unfortunately it is a different story now as Intels multiple core cpus wipe AMD's off the market almost...take the safe option ang go for the E6600
