According to web page: www.atomix.vg (Its a game magazine in Spanish) its seems the new Playstation 4 is coming or its some kind of massive upgrade of the actual Playstation 3 in order to create the ultimate multimedia system platform.

i think more likely the psp will get a upgrade. sony recently cut the 20gb model so maybe they will make something new to replace it or something like the 360 elite.

An even more expensive version of the PS3? OMG can't wait!......Oh yeah that's right I plan to by a Cheaper and better xbox 360 that atleast has good games.

 Sounds plausible. We will have to wait to see if this actually happens, although I doubt this minor upgrade and reconfiguration will have much effect on the overall appeal of the PS3. This refreshed version, should it ever come into existence will hardly be a PS4 however.

indeed ajay. I can see this happening, but not a PS4...The ps3 doesn't really have many good titles still..lol. Too early for a new console. But I could see an update to make it more interactive via the internet. It's definitely a plus based on what sony promised. Overall, still definitely worth looking into ^_^. It's a real bummer though that PS3's from now on will have no backwards compatibility...Talk about suckage, one of the benefits was being able to play all older titles without having to buy a ps2 or psx, all you'd need is a ps3 and you got all 3...::sighs::.. Damn you sony! 

After stopping production on the 80GB PS3 models I would say its an system upgrade they are shootin' fer .... 120GB PS3 with....upgraded GFX hardware :) (just guessing)

I doubt it'll be updated graphics hardware, that would really piss people off it they made a better video card solution for this new PS3 version. It'll most likely just be software based, updating it and allowing more features for media/interconnectivity. As always, some minor hardware changes for their boards and positional layout..But it's not gonna be too massive, mostly just software would be my guess.

I've never was a playstation for or a console fan. I just got used to the comptuers so much that I do everything on them. I do play XBOX 360 at my friends house every now and then. :) I bet it is going to cost like the current playstation 3 when it came out, around 600-800 dollars. 

I don't think it will be nearly that expensive. Given Sony's sales, or lack there of, of the PS3 I would expect when this upgade is released we will see a drop in price of the PS3's that are already on the market and the upgraded version will be priced to compete with the top of the line XBOX 360.

 So curently the choices are PS3 with few good games, or X Box 360 and the Red Dawn over heating issue?  I have an Xbox that just needs an optical drive, drive lasted just past warentee.  I'll probably replace it and Ebay it out cause I'm sticking with the PC from now on.

I do not know what you could correct with the current version of the PS3.It is build solid like a rock,next to zero hardware issues after intensive use and has up to date updates

I guess we have to wait at least 5-6 years for a new model of PS3 to come out.The current PS3 can be improved a lot and Sony sends firmware upgrades pretty quick.

what the heck are you talking about? wait 5-6 years for a new model of ps3, we will already be on the ps4.

gaming cycles are around 5 years or so. around 2010-2011 we see ps4, jesus christ man......

also, can you name some specific areas in which the ps3 firmware needs improvement??

i do not think so. you buy a gaming console FOR GAMING anything extra... is just that extra. i wish i had a gaming console that could bring me beer and such but that is unrealistic to expect anything apart from movies, and games from a game console

and the playstation live/network is free and intresting.

Ice, a Playstation 4 in 2010 or 2011 would actually be unusual.  So far, Sony have done 6 year releases.  PS1-1994, PS2-2000, PS3-2006.  I would not expect a PS4 until 2012 at the earliest.  Microsoft does shorter life cycles, so 2010 or 2011 for the next Xbox is without any question, however.  Especially since they need higher storage capacity than DVD. 

A new PS3 in 5-6 years may seem like a bad estimation, but remember Sony revised the PS1 with the PSone in 2000, 6 years after first launching the console.  The PS2 was revised to the Slim in 2004, and in 2007 further revised to have no external power brick.  The PS3 will likely recieve a major revision to be made smaller sometime next decade, and like the PS2 may recieve even more piecemeal updates as time goes on.

completly agree with you on all points except ps4. microsoft managed to dent sony pretty bad with the year headstart of xbox 360 and even now sony is playing catch up. i dont think it will do that same mistake again. also a executive at sony commented on ps4 coming around 2010, however with date slips and problems. i think 2011 is most likely. still thats not saying the ps3 will become worthless when the ps4 comes out, heck look at the ps2 now it is still going strong.
