iPads to Hit Target on Oct. 3rd?

There have been rumors of late that Target might get the hot-selling iPad in-store prior to the holiday shopping season, and they keep coming. This tip, however, is pretty light on the details, although you can connect the dots if you try.

An unnamed product is set to hit Target on Oct. 3rd, according to Engadget. The product will be available at six price points -- the same prices of the iPad, ranging from $499 for the 16GB Wi-Fi-only model, to $829 for the 64GB model with 3G. Thus, even without being named, it sounds suspiciously like the iPad.

Additionally, pictures from a Target PDA show the new device will be located in the "Digital Audio" department, which is the same Target department that sells iPods, as well as the Amazon Kindle e-reader.

So far Best Buy is the only major retailer to sell the iPad, though Apple said that retail availability of the "magical" iPad would expand "over time." Earlier this year, Walmart, perhaps Target's greatest rival (and vice versa), said it hoped to sell the iPad by the end of 2010.
