Sony Shoves More Storage Capacity into New PS3 Models

Never has there been a better time to be a console junkie. That's because your gaming dollar stretches a lot farther today than it did when the current crop of the 'big 3' gaming consoles were first released (Microsoft Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, Sony PlayStation 3), with new models boasting bigger feature-sets, and in some cases, lower prices.

The upgrade bug has apparently hit Sony, who is now shipping a 160GB version of its PS3 console for $300, the same price as the current 120GB model.

But the real treat for console gamers will come next month when Sony releases its PlayStation Move bundle. This upcoming SKU will include the Move motion controller, PlayStation Eye camera, Sports Champion game, and a comparatively massive 320GB hard drive.

The PlayStation Move bundle will run $400, which is a fair amount of coin to pay for a console. At the same time, it's an extremely smart move by Sony to beef up hard drive capacity, which shouldn't significantly raise the manufacturing cost, but helps consumers justify spending a $100 premium over the non-Move 160GB version.

So what's everyone's opinion on these new models and price points? Does anyone plan on picking up either of these consoles?

The playstation move games look like wii games, also to play them you need what looks like a vibrator. Even though I have a PS3, I would rather get Kinect - as you don't need to hold a "vibrator".

I don't want more storage capacity. I want to be able to connect to the PS Network without updating my firmware and losing OtherOS functionality.

BTW: This extra storage will come in really handy now that the PS3 has been hacked as a result of Sony removing the OtherOS function. (

Looks like they are trying to justify raising the price back to square one? At least you get a little more for the bills:P @ least it is not back to the 600 dollar range!
