Samsung Goes Long With 24x Zoom HZ25W

If you’re in the market for a digital camera with plenty of optical zoom capabilities, then Samsung’s new 12.5 megapixel HZ25W might do the job. This point and shoot camera joins Samsung’s advanced HZ series and offers an impressive 24x optical zoom with a 35mm film equivalent focal range of 26mm-624mm.

The new HZ25W is also able to record 720p HD video in H.264 format. For extra versatility, users can take advantage of the camera’s powerful zoom lens by zooming in and out while recording video. To help eliminate blur from camera shake, the HZ25W uses Samsung’s Dual Image Stabilization which combines both optical and digital stabilization.

This camera targets both novice and more advanced users with a range of controls from Smart Auto to aperture and shutter priority modes as well as full manual control and RAW support. Users can also customize white balance settings using temperature ranges from 3,000K to 10,000K. Manual focusing is available as well. For the photographer who prefers automatic settings, the HZ25W offers Face Recognition, Face Detection, Smile Shot, Blink Detection, and Samsung’s Beauty Shot mode.

The HZ25W will be available in October for $399.99.
