Radeon HD 3830 Details Leaked
“AMD's Radeon HD 3830 will be based on the RV670 core and will feature a 128-bit memory bus, potentially providing roughly half the memory bandwidth of the HD 3850 and 3870 depending on the type and speed of memory used.
All other features of the 55nm RV670 core are still included: DirectX 10.1, PCIe 2.0 and UVD. The GPU still features 320 stream processors like the HD 3850 and HD 3870 revisions.”
Topping out at 256MB of RAM and hitting shelves for $120-$130, the HD 3830 might be an incredible bargain depending on how it performs.

One bargain after another. First Nvidia with its price reduction of the 9600GT, and now this. 256MB of ram is a wee bit shy of what the 9600 offers, but it does have a lower price, and DX10.1. Plus it is built off a 55nm core instead of a 65nm. We'll just have to wait for HH to get in a sample and post a review on the performance. I wonder what price they had planned for this before Nvidia marked down the 9600's?

Judging by the naming scheme it will be below a 2600, and certainly below even an 8600GT.
What was it the 3670 or something like that was simply a 2600 with a new name.
The 9600GT will simply thrash this card for $20-30 more.
If this came out in Nov when the other 3800 family did, it might be great. But now, I agree it's not gonna make a big dent. Prices often fall below retail though, so depending on how it performs it may yet be a bargain for new system builders who only want moderate gaming.
