Nikon Announces Eight New COOLPIX Cameras

Nikon is refreshing its COOLPIX line with eight new point and shoot models. Of the eight new cameras, four are Style Series models, one is a Performance Series camera, and the final three are Life Series models.

All eight COOLPIX models feature Nikon’s NIKKOR lenses and Nikon’s EXPEED digital image processing concept. The COOLPIX line also gets a handful of new features with these announcements, including a Smart Portrait System that captures smiling faces without blinks; an Enhanced Face-priority Auto Focus that can detect up to 12 faces and adjust exposure accordingly; and a Scene Auto Selector that can select the best shooting mode for the situation.

Here’s a brief look at what each of the eight new cameras has to offer.

Style Series

The Style Series includes the new COOLPIX S630, S620, S230, and S220 cameras. This series features a range of body colors and a sleek design. The 10MP COOLPIX S230 has a Touch Screen Design with a 3.0-inch high resolution LCD; 3x optical zoom; write and draw functions; 4-Way VR image stabilization; and ISO 2000 capability.  The COOLPIX S230 will be available in five colors (Plum, Jet Black, Night Blue, Gloss Red, and Warm Silver).

Nikon-COOLPIX-S220The COOLPIX S220 has a slim design with a 2.5-inch LCD and a 10MP sensor. It also has a 3x optical zoom and 4-Way VR image stabilization along with a Quick Retouch feature. This camera will be available in six colors (Plum, Graphite Black, Cobalt Blue, Aqua Green, Warm Silver, and Magenta).

Nikon-COOLPIX-S630The pocket-sized COOLPIX S630 incorporates a 12MP sensor, 7x optical zoom capabilities, 2.7-inch LCD, and 4-Way VR image stabilization. This camera can capture up to 11 frames per second and has an ISO capability up to 6400. It will be available in five colors (Jet Black, Royal Purple, Midnight Blue, Ruby Red, and Titanium Silver).

Nikon-COOLPIX-S620The COOLPIX S620 has a 12.2MP sensor with a 4x optical zoom and a fast start up time of 0.7 seconds. It also has a Subject Tracking feature, Motion Detection feature, and ISO capability up to 6400. Expect the COOLPIX S620 to be available in five colors (Noble Purple, Jet Black, Dusty Pink, Sky Blue, and Rich Pearl).

All of the new Style Series models will be available sometime this month. The S220 will retail for $149.95; the S230 will retail for $229.95; the S620 will retail for $269.95; and the S630 will retail for $279.95.

Performance Series

Nikon-COOLPIX-P90The new COOLPIX P90 is part of Nikon’s flagship Performance Series. This camera is designed for photo enthusiasts and users with more advanced photography skills. The camera has a 24x optical zoom (26-624mm equivalent), a 3-inch LCD monitor with tilt function, and the ability to shoot 15 frames per second. Other features of this camera include 4-Way VR image stabilization; maximum ISO capability of 6400; Scene Auto Selector; Quick Retouch; and Distortion Control. The COOLPIX P90 will be available in March for $399.95.

Life Series

Nikon-COOLPIX-L100The Life Series now includes the new COOLPIX L100, L20, and L19 models. The COOLPIX L100 has a 10MP sensor with a 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD and 15x optical zoom capabilities. This camera’s Sport Continuous mode can capture up to 30 consecutive frames at 13 frames per second.

Nikon-COOLPIX-L20The COOLPIX L20 also has a 10MP sensor and 3.0-inch LCD. It is powered by two AA batteries and has a 3.6x zoom. This camera will feature an Easy Auto Mode with Scene Auto Selector; Smart Portrait System; and Motion Detection features. It will be available in Deep Red.

Nikon-COOLPIX-L19Last but not least, the 8MP COOLPIX L19 has a 2.7-inch LCD with a 3.6x zoom. It is also powered by two AA batteries and will be available in Bright Silver.

The new COOLPIX L100 will be available in March for $279.95. The COOLPIX L19 and L20 cameras will be available sometime this month for $109.95 and $129.95, respectively.
