NVIDIA 80nm GPU Expected In September

HKEPC has learned that NVIDIA's first 80nm GPU is expected to be released sometime this September. Two versions of the G73-B1 GPU, the G73-N-B1 and the G73-H-B1, will be manufactured by TSMC (Fab12), and will be a direct competitor to ATI's X1650 series. The G73-N-B1 is very similar to NVIDIA's 90nm part, even sharing the same PCB design, however the G73-H-B1 will be geared towards the home theater market. The G73-H-B1 will be available to the OEM market, though NVIDIA has yet to announce any plans for the retail market.

"As home theater is becoming the trend of future, products with build-in HDMI Signal Mixing function is an essence for it survive in the market. HDMI LCD and Plasma TV are now common. Sources said ATi will put the function in the coming RS600 family. Similarly, the upcoming Intel Bearlake G+ IGP is going to give HDMI support in Q3 2007."
