The wireless version works from up to 50 feet away, and it uses a standard 2.4GHz transceiver in order to stream music from a notebook/device to the speaker itself; just plug the adapter into a USB port and stream away. There's dual two-inch drivers, which aren't huge, but will certainly sound better than your internal notebook speakers. This one also has a rechargeable battery that can power your speaker for up to 10 hours.
The Z305 uses a USB cable for power, and it's designed to rest on your laptop lid as you use it. It's said to be plug-and-play, but you'll still be dealing with a cable.
