Lackluster Ageia Sales?

Fudo over at The Inquirer reports that their channel-checks with retailers have uncovered some lackluster sales for Ageia's new PhysX PPU. One particular vendor claims they are selling roughly ten cards per day which is certainly below average for a hot new piece of hardware. Apparently, the questionable enhancements in current games we witnessed when we reviewed the BFG PhysX card are not enough to push consumers over the fence just yet. We have no doubt the quality of the product is there, however we now need the games to fully take advantage of it.

Of course, the most significant game to support Ageia's PhysX technology is about to be Unreal Tournament 2007. Once this game is out, sales should pick up remarkably. We like the marchitecture but we need more games. Even then, the company will probably have to lower a rather optimistic price to make the cards even more attractive.
