Huawei Claims Ascend P2 World’s Fastest Smartphone, Runs Android
Chinese mobile device maker Huawei has a ways to go in terms of its global image despite recent growth, but the company now lays claim to the “fastest smartphone in the world” with the introduction of the Huawei Ascend P2. Indeed, Huawei isn’t shy in proclaiming its feelings about the Ascend P2, which CEO Richard Yu called a “perfect smartphone” in a press release.
The phone’s juicy specs include a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4G LTE, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of (non-expandable) storage, a 1.3MP front-facing camera, and a 13MP camera that shoots 1080p video, all of which is housed in an 8.4mm body. The 4.7-inch, IPS 720p display is built with Gorilla Glass and features a rounded “infinity pool” look at the bottom edge; reportedly, users will be able to interact with the display even when using the fingernail or wearing gloves. The operating system is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Other features include Huawei’s Emotion UI 1.5, a 2420 mAh battery, NFC, GPS, and “swift sharing” for faster upload and downloads. Huawei didn’t share pricing, but the Ascend P2 will be available worldwide at some point in the second quarter of 2013.
