Just a reminder folks!  In conjunction with our good friends at AMD, Corsair, and Western Digital, we're giving away yet another full, quad-core system this month!  This time around, you could win a full AMD Phenom X4 9750-based system, complete with a GeForce 8800 GTS graphics card and a brand new Western Digital Black Edition hard drive!

The complete parts list and breakdown is listed below!  As we've done with previous sweepstakes, we’ll be giving away this rig away to a randomly selected contributor to our on-line forum and discussion systems, but like last month there's a twist (see below):

Looks like they cooked up another good one and with all that black would'nt a black box CPU be more fitting. Lol JK HH looks like a nice system ( and hey my x2 is'nt a black box issue) I still got it oc'd lol:)

yeah nice system and I have my X2 oc'd to 2420x2 easy to just up the voltage one on my dfi bios so should be easy to oc anyway nice system and good luck to everyone on winning it :)

The drawing moves closer every day such a sweet system and HH's dedication to giving it's loyal user base a chance of winning one is awesome. Hey and everyone don't let the Memorial day donations to the disabled veterans slack either. Any donation on that front is very appreciatted I just got my paper receipts for the two donations I made. You would be astounded at the population numbers for disabled veterans who got that way defending your and mine way of life in our great country.

They usually do the right job picking the winner, I have faith this time as well. Also If it happens to go to me I will ship Ice the gts 320 that it comes with if he still has not gotten his card replaced. I already have a 640, there is no reason for me to keep both. (I'm not Kam, I'll keep my word!)

nah, its ok im sure there are other people more deserving of it than me, after all i did win the system.  my 7950 is keeping me chugging along for now. im sure everything will get sorted out eventually :-)  cant wait till next week and i can finally run crysis :-)

mario said it should ship out friday.i dont think im getting anything extra, id just be happy to finally play dx10, and also get to use my other computer since im using that video card. im glad crysis got his rig straightened out himself though.

 Well the date is getting closer and closer for the win and every time I look at the specs it gets more exciting.I myself would totally flip to win such a powerful rig.I definately would never get rid of it.Matter of fact if I was to croak I would put it in my will which would read total assets my truck and the Beast.Id give my truck to my boy and this beast to my daughter.Guarenteed she would never get rid of it.She loves a fast PC and she,s a Daddys girl.Anyway as usual Good luck to everyone here! Wish my DAV receipt would get here so I could submit it before the drawing date!

Also, if I win, I'd be happy to offer up some of my old hardware. This includes:

-The AMD Athlon X2 5000+ that I won in last months' contest. It's still in the unopened box (can't afford the motherboard upgrade required right now).

-ATI Radeon X800XT 512MB. I realize this is not the latest and greatest (doesn't even run Crysis or BioShock...but it runs TF2!!), but is still a decent card and would be given to someone with an AGP based system that would benefit from such an upgrade.

-Creative Labs X-Fi Xtreme soundcard.

-I would offer up my motherboard/processor combo (ASRock DualSATA 939 + AMD Athlon 4000) but I don't think anyone would want them. If I am wrong, then I would offer those up as well.

If such a thing were to take place, all I ask is that the recipient pay for HALF of the shipping costs.

Sorry to hear about your loss! On the last contest I wanted to donate the money just wasnt there but here come the 1st of next week I will send something!  I have a feeling this months giveaway may not be as easy to choose a winner. Everytime I check on the top post counts on the forums someone different is at the top of the list. Now granted, I know it doesn't solely go off that but generally thats the individuals who have been winning. Just saying I personally haven't seen any 1 individual stand out way above the others. It may be a close one ya'll guess we'll see here soon enough. I just would like to see the winner announced before I leave for my trip Wed.

Good luck to all, it is one hell of a nice prize....again! I now it's a random drawing but I thought the winners were drawn from a pool of members who actually added to the forum, not just posted random nothings to gain a higher post count. I could be wrong though.

 I don't know exactly how it works but I think they look at post count and how much of your posts are actually beneficial to the forums to determine. I doubpt they just look at the highest post count over the month but I do know that every person that has won over the past several months has had the highest # of posts on most of the days I check the forums. However they are doing it I think it has been very fair to all the members eligable. I say it that way cause I know there are a bunch of members that aren't eligable due to location but unfortunately there is nothing that can be done about that. It is what it is. Either way I have no doupbt that this months winner will deserving of such a sweet rig.

 Well, that's too bad because "I'm Bound For the Promised Land" in this contest, and you'll be "Fourty Shades of Green" with envy. I will "Look Unto the East" for the ups driver.  another great contests guys. Am I still eligable for this 1 or not? This would go great with the 8800gts you guys just sent me assuming it's an XFX 1 of course. I have to get back into posting again though. I kinda slacked off this week. I have been a bit under the weather so my week has consisted of work, my sons baseball playoffs(3 games this week already with 2 more tomorrow) and sleeping in between. I have been so tired it's ridiculous. I never go to bed at 9pm or take naps in the afternoon.

Now that I am feeling a bit better I will try to get active again.

I used to be a coffee drinker, then I realized the wonder that is tea. Now I'm a tea fanatic. Haven't had a cup of coffee in about 3 years.

In terms of England and the 4th of July, I would just like to remind everyone that the very men who are responsible for the U.S. were considered 'traitors' and 'bad patriots' by England.

Keep that in mind when witnessing the actions of Bush and our own government.That questioning the actions of our government is not bad. It is not traitorous. It does not make you a bad patriot. You are walking in the shadows of our fore-fathers who founded this country in order to get out from under the thumb of the English throne.

Most people know the first sentence of second paragraph the Declaration of Independence. The one about all men being created equal and the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness. So I'd like to take this opportunity to quote the rest of that second paragraph which I think, especially in these times, is extremely important.

Please read that paragraph two or three times.

Our country's future is in our hands. It is our responsibility to question our government and assure they are doing what is in our best interests. And if they are not, it is equally our responsibility to impeach them and install a new government that does have our best interests in mind.

So this Independence Day, celebrate our country's independence by questioning your own freedom, and what you can and should be doing to keep it.

Find an organization. Volunteer. Get involved in YOUR country to make it a better place for your children.

Some organizations that I'm involved in that can always use more members. Smile As always, membership is free! Most of these will inform you of actions in Congress and the House of Representatives and inform you how you can be a part of change by letting you know who your state representatives are, and if you are unsure of writing a letter yourself, they will provide you with a form letter that you can mail off to your state rep. It's a great way to start to get involved and learn about the government of your own country.

 Ah the good old hot hardware! I just wanted to wish everyone good luck in the contest!
I remember winning won of the first contests here. It was a Pentium D 830 and a ECS mobo. I still have the CPU. I had it running at 4Ghz everyday! I had to back off when it migrated to my girlfriends SSF case :(

Had to reminisce for a bit. I'll try to stop by and post more often. I still read the front page everyday.

 I.ll be sitting at the house  resting hoping and dreaming of winning that awesome rig and then trying to figure out what I could give back to HH to show my appreciation for such incrediably fast  toy.I wouldnt have to ever upgrade again or at least til Firefox 14 comes out and until Windows 2012!!! Other than that nothing else on my agenda.But as always there is some good guys and girls on this forum so no matter what good luck to all of you honestly! Even more important God Bless all the men and women in the service that keep us safe and free!!!Yes And for the rest of you have a great 4th and be safe out there!

 Slow but its coming along I havent been working on it much been sick quite a bit here lately. The nerve damage in that brain of mine has been giving me some unwanted seizures and other side effects that also causes me to have involuntary limb movement whole lot of pain and just a whole down time!So I really havent posted a lot this month just sleeping to much throwing up.Just a bad run here lately!But everyone dont want to hear all this crap! But I had a good day today! Looking forward to getting  a rig going so I can hang with the big dogs on here! Anyway good luck to all dont all yall get to Drunk! LOL!! Yeah that means yo too Big Wop and Davo!!! Oh yeah you too ICE!!!

telling a russian not to get drunk is like telling the sun not to shine at noon.  sorry to hear about the nerve damages, you should consider getting something for the pain, i remember when my shoulder poped out they gave me demeroll, and codeine latter on.

Yeah Im a beer drinker and love my beer but due to my problem I cant drink because it causes some serious sid affects too and that suck!!  The medical part the pain medications not doing enough and I dont have insurance but my medicare starts tomorrow so Im getting a appt appointment with a neorologist to try a nerve block procedure in my brain if it can be done and then I got to see a caner specialist to do a biopsy for what appears to be skin cancer for melinoma which preliminary results incate its positive! But I couldnt get it done before cause as we all know no insurance and they wont even see you.So we will see how that works out.But for time being Im staying medicated.Its OK every day I get to see my kids is a blessing.Hey if they get me feeling better Ill drink a few with the gang here! LOLBeerYes

Either way whoever wins, I hope you guys keep up the push for the DAV. When I made my two donations and got there mail back I was quite astounded. They said there were over 90,000 disabled vet's in the North part of Georgia needless to say if every state is even or above 100,000 which I could imagine easily. That's like 4-5 million disabled vets in the USA that's a Lotta men and women that gave up a whole lot for each and every one of our little bit's of freedom.

Quick question BigWop: Regarding how winners are chosen; if it is based on post count and/or participation (which seems to be the case given the recent string of winners), why the insinuation that donating to the DAV will 'help' your chances?

I mean, some new guy could register, post 2 or 3 times, and donate $500.00 to the DAV but it's not going to help his chances at all since the admins are selecting who the winner will be based on their participation in the forum.

I think donating is a good thing and it's for the right cause, however once people look at who has won the last few contests and realize that their donation doesn't improve their chances of winning at all and instead, selected winners are based on how helpful they are and how much they participate, who's going to bother donating? I mean, if you want to tie a charity to a sweepstakes and say, "This contest is in honor of a this charity, and we would like to urge you to support them.", that's one thing...but to say that donating improves your chances, and then use participation and helpfulness as the biggest criteria in selecting a winner, well, it kind of leaves a bad taste in ones' mouth and makes you realize that no matter how much you donate, it still will not help you win a contest over someone who visits the site more and participates more and who has been posting at HH for 18 months and has a high post count.

By the way, I totally agree with selecting new winners of systems based on their regularity, helpfulness, and participation and giving consolation prizes (if there are any) to newbies. I just wish such a thing were stated. It's sad when something happens like Kamrooz winning and then leaves the site entirely. And even though he was a veteran, the chance of a veteran leaving the site after winning is far less than a new member who posts or can't even be bothered to upload an avatar.

I'm assuming this is why long-time and helpful veterans with the most post counts and activity have won the most recent contests: Crisis Causer, Ice, and Super Dave, even Kamrooz. All were well deserved!! Yes

I'm just asking because I'm a bit confused at how this works. Like most people, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to win a system however if there is some sort of criteria to truly qualify for winning a major contest, I for one would like to know what it is so that I can work to meet that criteria.

Hey Bro,

I'm not going to explain exactly how we pick the winners, because I / we don't want anyone "gaming" the system. But using the last giveaway as the model I'll sort of explain -- being a forum member qualifies you, so there's one entry. Signing up for news alerts is another entry, donating got users another entry, news comments another. And then we're weighting participation (quality and quantity) over the duration of the contest. Unfortunately, simply putting names in a hat of active members doesn't always work out, and we end up in a situation like Kamrooz, where we literally changed someone's life (his words not mine) and then they vanish on us. This way, we end up with a long list of "real" members and then we randomly select the winner. Administering has gotten far more complex for us, but the results have been good, so we'll keep doing it.

As for the guy that donates $500 bucks thinking he'll have a better chance, well technically he did because it got him another entry, but the dollar amount didn't matter. And ultimately, he / we end up helping a great charity. We wanted to find a way to give back to Veterans, but we also wanted everyone to be able to participate, so a $1 donation was as important at a $100 donation in our eyes. It was just a way to try to keep everyone involved, and help others at the same time.

Thanks for the explanation Marco. I have an unquenchable desire to understand things that I don't and you definitely did not have to explain. I understand it wasn't necessary and I appreciate you being open and communicative with your members. It's something sorely lacking on other sites and one of the main reasons I like HH; instead of being the mysterious admins 'behind the curtain', you're 'one of us', a fellow enthusiast who participates. I have a better understanding of the process now and will shut up. Stick out tongue

 Hey FSeven, Who's to say those people listed that have won something have not donated. They said it could help your chances which I take it as if it's a close call between 2 members and 1 donated and the other didn't I would think the 1 who donated would win. Thats the way I read into it but I could be wrong.

Hey mhenriday, That question has been answered several times already but since your new I'll fill you in what was stated before. I do wish that everyone regardless of location could participate but it's just not practical. I understand that it isn't fair to those living outside the U.S. but look at it from this perspective. The cost to just ship 1 of these systems outside the U.S. would be ridiculous. Between taxes and shipping costs to go over the border HH just could not possibly do it. If you were to buy 1 of these sytems from the U.S. the costs would probally be almost double that of someone living in the U.S. for that reason. If HH was located in say Germany then it would leave U.S. citizens ineligable.

I am stating this as to what the big dogs here at HH have already stated. I didn't make the rules I just understand why they are what they are and am passing it on to you.

indeed, dev can vouch for that! (if my memory serves me correct he won a x1900xtx or something)

also, i think the current system is working out great. crysis, me, and dave are certaintly regulars and wont be leaving any time soon. however, it is still random (i think....), so any one can win :-)
