Hang Tight Xbox 360 Gamers, Another GTA V Patch to Fix Online Play is Coming

Rockstar Games on Friday announced that the latest title update for the online component of Grand Theft Auto V is live for PlayStation 3, while the developer is working to have another patch available for Xbox 360 gamers "as soon as possible today." The second patch is intended to address a "variety of technical difficulties" associated with online play.

Gamers eagerly anticipated the launch of GTA Online, though the developer warned last week that the initial rollout might suffer from some "teething problems," and that's turned out to be true. For PS3 gamers, a PlayStation Network issue was limiting the amount of possible concurrent users, thereby preventing most players from accessing GTA Online. Today's patch solves that issue.

An issue that's been affecting both PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers is one in which the players have been unable to get through the first tutorial mission. Rockstar Games says that some have been able to get through it with repeated retries, though a more permanent fix is on the way.

Because of these issues, and also due to instability beyond the tutorial mission, Rockstar Games has disabled the option of of purchasing in-game currency (GTA$ packs). However, gamers can still earn GTA$ through gameplay.

"All of these initial technical issues will be ironed out as soon as we can," Rockstar Games said in a blog post. "Please know that the entire team here at Rockstar and all of our relevant partners are and will continue to be working around the clock to get the experience to be as smooth as possible, as soon as possible."
