HH and CyberPower Independence Day Sweepstakes Winner!

To commemorate the Independence Day holiday, we announced an exciting sweepstakes along with our friends at Cyberpower PC, Intel, Kingston and Cooler Master in which we planned to give away a custom, fully loaded Intel Core i7-powered system, complete with 4GB of RAM, a GeForce graphics card, and a an Intel SSD--among numerous other goodies.

The response we received after the announcement of the contest and throughout its duration was absolutely awesome with hundreds of new members joining our community, posting thousands of comments throughout the forum, news, Facebook and Twitter. Before we announce the winner, we want to give a big thank you to everyone that made this contest possible and of course to all of our loyal community members—new and old--who participated.

Well, we've had a chance to sift through all of the data and we’ve picked the lucky winner...

She's All Yours, AnimatorTom!

Are you ready for it? Drum roll please! And the Winner Is:

AnimatorTom

Congrats brother! You've just scored yourself once heck of a killer rig!

Now everyone, congratulate your compatriot and prepare for our next exciting give-away! Once we've got the details hammered out, we'll announce the next contest, but we promise it won't be long!

Thanks,
Team HotHardware

As much as plane tickets would cost you to get to Hawaii.. you should just build this computer lol

rapid1 4 years ago

Hey animatortom I don't know exactly how long you have lived in Hawaii, nor which island you live on. However; You don't happen to know any of the Heller family do you?

realneil 4 years ago

I do

animatortom 4 years ago

Sorry Rapid,

Dont know any Hellers? I have only been here on Oahu for about  2 1/2years.  I will probably be back in Cali. before the end of the year!

SO? Fat is going to pay more for plane tickets, than if he just called up Cyberpower and bought a custom rig, just so he can steal?

And Inspector is going to get a good job with FedEx only to commit Grand theft,...Larceny...and Mail fraud, all Three,.. federal Felonies? Well I am sure most of us here do not support this type of liberal criminal activities, I am sure it might work if you are members of congress!:P Yet, first thing Inspector, I believe you have to be 16 to have a drivers license(that's in the farming states) Then you also have to be @least 18 for a job like that (probably 21?)

Personally, and I am sure Hot Hardware agrees with me....don't condone these types of criminal activities!

Maybe when you guys start dating, you will understand that good things come to those who wait:P

Gotta say, it's a little disheartening how the comments were almost radio silent today, now that contest is over. We're launching another one soon but I was hoping folks were genuinely more engaged than this.

I was just thinking the same thingSad

It is only because I am a slow reader that I am not posting faster, Must be my DyslexiaStick out tongue

It did aslo take me a while to figure out exactly what that IUM Does?!

It was kinda hard to understand with his british accent.:)

Hehe... I hear ya, Tom. I wasn't thinking of you specifically though, that's for sure. Just in general.

realneil 4 years ago
Gotta say, it's a little disheartening
Sorry to disappoint you Dave, but I'm running around getting ready to do another project in my house. We need to try and make the place accessible for me and my wheelchair. (long way to go too) We'll never pull a loan to do these things, so we save like crazy and when we can afford the next step, we jump on it before something happens requiring that money. So it's off to Home Depot, Lowes, and even WalMart for the last three days and two more to come,.................

My daughter's Father-In-Law just had emergency open heart surgery 3days ago, and while we're not at his bedside, we're the ones taking care of all of my daughter's pets while they are. So it's back and forth between the two houses (35 miles) 3 or 4 times a day to get it done.

We also have a 6 day trip coming up to Pennsylvania to my wife's parents house. (think BF-Egypt and then a little farther away from everything) I'll be effectively gone from connectivity for most of that time.

I love to be here on the site, and enjoy the back and forth with everyone too, (knowing that for me, winning isn't in the cards again, and that's OK with me, because it's only fair that way) but I have to do my "honey-dews" every once in a while.

I'll be back next week, gunning for the lot of ya! (or sooner if I find a way to connect)

Sounds like you got Alot going on Neil,

Hope everything turns out OK! To bad you are on the east side, I am a really good carpenter! I could even go Mc Guyver on your house and knock that ramp out for ya with probably a few street signs and park benches!

Yeah, Lots going on. I'm a fair carpenter myself and can build anything that needs to be strong and windproof. Finish carpentry eludes me though.
Funny you should mention park benches, I have three here. The town of Stanley, VA has seen fit to already provide the streetlight too. Ha-Ha!

What we're gonna do soon is to enclose my back deck with some "Suntuf" Polycarbonate wind proof panels to mitigate the effects of the weather. Slow it down a little if you will,....so Darlene and I can use all of the exercise gear that we just put out there throughout the winter months. We can dress warmly and still do exercise if the wind isn't peeling the skin from our faces while we're out there. Although it won't be insulated, we can fire up a little heater if need be too. Maybe I'll post a pic of the deck before we start and one after it's done.
Another kinda funny thing (but not really) is that last night I posted as to our method of saving our cash until we can afford to do the next project because we refuse to pull a loan and remove the money buffer we've built up over the years. We make a little more than we have to spend to survive each month, and we save it as much as possible. Something came up last night after I posted and we may have to use a good portion of our savings (project money) on it. This involves taking back the materials that we just bought over the last few days.

So I guess that my point is, "you can make all of the plans in the world but life has the real control and can change them at will."

As to a smartphone,....they don't work properly where I live,........

As for me I have posted a little, but nowhere near the usual level. We are pretty much through moving (I still have a few boxes to go through) now. I am about to leave and go find some local employment. Either way at the new house my desktop is not really set up yet, as my massive L desk does not work here. I actually have it set up in the kitchen now (for the first time), but it will not stay there. I need to get a new desk, and the internet currently although wireless is set up in the bedroom. My Cyberpower beauty has no wireless, and I would rather have gigabit wired anyway when it is finally setup. So I either have to run cables downstairs, or put a new desk in the bedroom. I could as has been suggested also set up an office in the basement, which is completely unfinished. I am not really wanting to do that, so my posting is limited largely by other factions or events going on right now.

I am in the process of moving as the next semester of college is about to kick off. Gotta go through the lights and water, inspection process. I will be active again on here you can book that!!!!!!!!

Sweet rig!  I see they had the asetek cooler on that.  I would recommend slapping another fan on that radiator for push/pull.  Is that an intake or exhaust?  I have the Corsair H50, and they recommend running it as an intake.  However, I changed it to an exhaust and saw a 3-4 degree decrease in my temps.  Just a tip, probably depends on the case, though

Devil_Dante 4 years ago

Dang, you did get the computer fast. Congratulations on winning dude, quite a spiffy rig you got now. What really caught my eye was that that computer has a Blu-Ray drive, which is pretty awesome.

eunoia 4 years ago

.

animatortom 4 years ago

?...I think it is great!

It is roughly the same as the 550LC which is the workstation cooler.

Since I use this mainly as a workstation then it makes more senseGeeked

Corsair is their partner and so they are roughly the sameCool The Aseteks are also what they put in the HP Z400/Z800 workstations !

Unless it came with an EVGA's Classified SR-2, with two Intel Xeon 5680 Processors...Then It would need one of the dual Asetek coolers like in the Z800.

So I really couldnt ask for a better coolerBig Smile

realneil 4 years ago
Corsair is their partner and so they are roughly the same
Asetek manufactures the H50 for Corsair. Their agreement with Corsair precludes them from selling them to the public, but you can buy them from direct marketers for less than the H50 sells for. (they are essentially the same) The push/pull method with an extra, matching fan on the other side of the radiator worked well for me, as did turning them both around so they blow the air out instead of drawing it into the case. I used two matching fans made by Scythe.

I love the case that your computer's in too.

Enjoy your win and let us know the differences in rendering times now.

mjcrab 4 years ago

Congratulations Animator Tom, yes I am extremely jealous! Thanks to the Guru's at HH and the sponsors, for the great contests and the fun/ informative forum. Keep up the good work and the cool contests. I still need some major upgrading and on disability there is no budget to cover upgrades unfortunately. So I will continue to drool and be envious, as I read all the specs and stories of all your uber rigs. They are considerably better than what I have and not good enough for the people who own them. I'm not proud, I'll gladly take any hand me downs! LOLBig Smile

Good luck to everyone in the new contest, that they come up with next. I'm sure it will be more highly desireable prizes and we will all be very envious of whoever is the lucky geek who wins next! So thanks again to everybody and good luck to all. See you in the forums!
