“Beard's basic push is to un-isolate the browser. He says that after 10 years the browser still remains isolated from your browser on other machines and from your computer environment.

The more interconnected online and offline applications become, the more crucial internet security becomes. Currently Firefox benefits from the same type of passive virus protection that Apple enjoys. I believe it was FlyinBrian that put it best in another thread, "security by obscurity". I wouldn't say Firefox is obscure exactly, it is however used by far less people than IE currently is. This is at least in part one of the reasons I think it is a safer browser. It simply isn't as prime a target as IE for virus' and the like. Security aside one of the best things about Firefox are the wealth of extensions available. This is a stroke of pure genius on Mozilla's part, considering most of them are open-source created at no cost to Mozilla.
