Demi Moore Tweet Saves a Life (More or Less)

A series of tweets on Demi Moore's twitter feed help saved a 47-year-old San Jose, California woman's life, according to reports. One of the hundreds of thousands of followings of Demi Moore's Twitter stream, mrskutcher, sandieguy, wrote a message to Moore early Friday morning.
"Getting a knife, a big one that is sharp. Going to cut my arm down the whole arm so it doesn't waste time."
Followed a few seconds later by:
"gbye ... gonna kill myself now."
Later that morning, the message was retweeted to Moore's Twitter stream. A comment from Moore said:
Everyone I was very torn about responding or retweeting that woman's post but felt uncomfortable just letting it go
After that, followers of the stream were on the line to San Jose Police, who eventually tracked the woman down, unharmed, but took her into custody for observation. A later tweet on sandieguy's own stream said:
I'm home from the psychiatric ward. I'm eating a piece of egg, cheese, sausage, and croissant. (sp). I still feel weird and sad.
and a day later:
Going to pay it forward!!! Starting today no more pity party!
While people are giving Moore a lot of credit, let's be honest: most of the tweets that occur on a celebrities Twitter stream are from "hired help." And they, or she, didn't bother to dial 911 themselves, instead relying on unpaid help: followers of her stream. So rather than Demi Moore herself, it was a combination of (most likely) hired help along with followers who really did the trick. At the same time, it may in fact have saved a life. And although sandieguy said she formerly had "no followers to speak of," she now has 875. At the same time, the reasons for her depression may be apparent: her profile says she's looking for a job.
