Asus Introduces Sleek New CULV UL Series Notebooks
Asus has been keeping itself busy of late, announcing that it would be giving Amazon's Kindle a run for its money later this year and that it would soon be shipping a new mainboard line with Intel's fresh P55 Express chipset. Now, the company is going back to its notebook roots by introducing the UL Series.
Short for UnLimited Series, these brushed-aluminum machines feature Intel's Core 2 Duo SU3700 CPU as well as NVIDIA's GeForce G 210M graphics. Asus also claims that it can last half a day (12 hours) thanks to its GraphiX Boost technology, which allows users to conserve their battery power by switching between dedicated and integrated graphics. We have our doubts, but that's the claim.
The series is made up of the UL80 and UL50, both of which are around 1" thick. The pair can be outfitted with up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 500GB of hard drive space, a DVD Super Multi optical drive, built-in webcam and Windows Vista. Equally exclusive is the ASUS Power4Gear, which facilitates the deployment and usage of power according to the users' preferences in relation to the specific tasks that they need to perform.
