AT&T Announces Pricing for Nokia Lumia 820 and 920, HTC Windows Phone 8X
Not a moment too soon: AT&T has finally announced the pricing for the Windows Phone 8 devices it'll soon be carrying. Under a two-year contract, Nokia's flagship Lumia 920 will be sold for $99.99 - about $50 less than has been previously speculated. As an added bonus, AT&T will throw in a free wireless charging plate (likely to retail for about $50 itself). For those content with a less-beefy phone, the Lumia 820 will be yours for $49.99, under the same two-year contract.
AT&T will also be selling HTC's flagship Windows Phone 8X, for $199.99 for a 16GB model, while it will also be offering an exclusive 8GB model in the standard California Blue or Limelight (yellow) - the latter of which is also an exclusive. This 8GB offering will be sold for $99.99, which is quite a plummet given the only difference between the two phones is 8GB of storage.
As a quick recap as to what these phones offer, Nokia's Lumia 920 comes equipped with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 at 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch IPS LCD with a 1280x768 resoultion (332 ppi), an 8.7 megapixel camera at the back (1.3 megapixel at the front), NFC and too much more to mention. The Lumia 820 scales things back as its price would hint. Its SoC is identical, but its 4.3-inch screen is AMOLED in lieu of IPS, and offers only a 800x480 resolution (217 ppi). Its cameras are also a little different, offering 8.0 megapixel at the back and 0.3 megapixel at the front.
HTC's Windows Phone 8X features the same SoC as above, and with a screen-size of 4.3-inch with a 1280x720 resolution, we have a market-leading ppi of 341 (it could be argued, and rightfully so, that over 300 the differences are difficult to appreciate without the use of a magnifying glass). This phone is also NFC-capable, and offers an 8 megapixel camera at the back and a surprising 2.1 megapixel offering at the front.
The Lumia phones are available for pre-order tomorrow, and available on the 9th, while HTC's 8X is slated for release closer to Thanksgiving.
