Samsung Galaxy S6 Makes Second Appearance in Leaked Benchmark With 16MP Camera

It looks as though Samsung is testing two different prototypes of its upcoming Galaxy S6 flagship smartphone. Last week, the SM-G925F variant of the Galaxy 6 showed up in an AnTuTu benchmark confirming many of the rumored specs of the device: 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 processor (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is destined for the U.S. market), 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a QHD (2560x1440) display, and a 20MP rear camera.

The SM-G925F has shown up in yet another AnTuTu benchmark, although this time around the device is sporting a 16MP rear camera instead of a 20MP unit. Now before everyone starts throwing rotten fruit at the screen, remember that 1) these are just prototypes and 2) a higher megapixel count doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll achieve superior image quality when snapping a picture.

Unfortunately, there is no further confirmation of the rumored 5.5” display screen that was reported last week.

The Galaxy S6 is known internally as “Project Zero” and represents Samsung’s total rethink of its smartphone strategy. We’ve seen bits and pieces of Samsung’s commitment to shaking up its design direction and materials choices with the Galaxy Alpha, and Galaxy A3/A5/A7. Hopefully, Samsung will further expand its top-to-bottom smartphone renaissance with the Galaxy S6.

After all, the Galaxy S5 has been a sales disappointment for Samsung (compared to the Galaxy S4), so the company needs to stay ahead of the curve if it wants to remain on the shopping lists of increasingly fickle consumers.
