Microsoft To Make Sunset Overdrive Free To Play For 24 Hours For Xbox Live Gold Subscribers

Stuck inside this weekend because of the snow and/or cold weather? Or simply looking for something to occupy your time? Good news, at least for you folks who own an Xbox One console and are subscribed to Xbox Live Gold -- the Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive developed by Insomniac Games and published by Microsoft Studios will be free to play for 24 hours this weekend.

Microsoft made the announcement on its Major Nelson portal, saying that the 24-hour time period begins on Saturday, November 22nd at 12:01 AM Eastern Time (9:01 PM tonight).

"This is the full game; players will earn achievements and be able to save how far they progress during that 24 hour span. If you decide to purchase the game at a later point, you will be able to start again right where you left off," Microsoft said.

Sunset Overdrive is an open world third-person shooter. The game's 8-player cooperative multiplayer mode, Chaos Squad, will also be available for 24 hours, though be advised that it must first be unlocked by playing a certain amount into the campaign.
