BlackBerry Grinches Apple, Offers iPhone Users Up To $550 To Trade-Up For A Passport With Black Friday Deal

Not only is BlackBerry getting back to its roots by releasing a Passport device that harkens back to the company's glory days, it's also willing to get in the trenches and fight aggressively to win back customers, especially those who may have flocked to Apple while it was busy experimenting with a name change and other questionable strategies. Heading in to the holiday season, the company formerly known as Research In Motion (RIM) has rolled out a trade-up program in which current iPhone users can receive up to $550 for switching to a Passport.

The incentive includes up to $400 (USD or CAD) in cash back for trading in an iPhone device, plus an additional $150 USD ($200 CAD) from BlackBerry. That's quite the score for jumping ship, and it's valid for the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, and iPhone 6. The program kicks off on December 1, 2014, and runs through February 13, 2015 -- more details are available at tradeup.blackberry.com.

BlackBerry Passport

If you don't own an iPhone, BlackBerry has a deal for you as well in the form of a Black Friday promotion. Beginning November 22 and for a limited time, BlackBerry will be offering $100 (USD and CAD) off the purchase of a black colored Passport phone. That brings the price down to $499 USD from an already reduced price of $599

For those of you who would prefer the BlackBerry Z30, there's a Black Friday promotion for that as well -- $275 USD off the MSRP in the U.S. and $250 CAD off the MSRP in Canada. Both offers are valid for purchases made through ShopBlackBerry.com.
